Please notify us by phone of the death as soon as possible and when to expect the apartment to be returned.
There is generally a three-month notice period, but we try our best to be flexible and accommodate relatives when returning apartments in the event of death. Rent is paid for the month that the keys are returned to the office of Félagsbústaðir.
The formal return takes place at our office, where you fill in a return form with the main information, sign and hand over the keys to the apartment. It is important that the apartment is completely emptied and cleaned before it is returned, otherwise the relatives can expect that a claim will be made to the estate for the costs of emptying and cleaning.
