Reykjavíkurborg service centers handle applications for Félagsbústaðir social housing.
In order to be able to apply for rental housing, the person in question needs e.g.:
- to be 18 years of age on the date of application or 67 years of age if applying for a residential home for the elderly.
- to be below certain asset and income limits or have a confirmed disability diagnosis or need for services.
- If an applicant has a temporary residence permit, it is a condition that the validity
of the residence permit is for a minimum of 12 months.
Applications are evaluated according to certain assessment criteria defined in the City of Reykjavík Regulations on Social Rental Housing. If the applicant meets the conditions, applications are ranked in order of priority based on the professional assessment of the consultant and the allocation team, as well as the result of the grading according to the assessment criteria.
In prioritizing applications for housing for the disabled and applications for housing for the homeless with extensive and complex service needs, the applicant’s service needs are taken into account when assessing which housing is suitable for the applicant.
