Fire protection

Fire prevention in apartment buildings is very important and housing associations need to make sure that there is a fire extinguisher on each floor and that there are a number of smoke detectors in common areas.

It is important to pay close attention to fire protection in apartment buildings. A properly located fire extinguisher of the correct type can make all the difference in the event of a fire hazard. Fire extinguishers must be on each floor, approx. 5-10 cm from the floor so that they are accessible to anyone in need. Furthermore, we recommend putting fire extinguishers in storage corridors and in common laundry rooms. The same goes for smoke detectors.

The building regulations state that owners must have fire extinguishers checked annually by authorized parties. We therefore recommend regular monitoring of fire protection in apartment buildings by companies in that field. More information can be found in building regulations.

It is recommended that doors in common areas and entrance doors to apartments be fire doors. They are fireproof for up to 30 minutes and can thus ensure the safety of you and others in the building.

We recommend that residents keep fire blankets inside their apartments, but with proper use they can prevent the spread of fire, e.g. from smaller electronics or candles. Fire blankets have the function of isolating fire and preventing the spread of smoke and toxins. It is also important to have a fire extinguisher in the apartment and a smoke detector in every room.
